Welcome back! We are excited to begin the term and recommence the PhD seminar. We will continue to cover important and enlightening topics, with both internal and external speakers, and we anticipate that the sessions will be extremely valuable for our cohort.

That being said, as conveners we are concerned about the poor seminar attendance in the first part of the year. A lot of energy and resources are put into developing the course, organizing internal and external speakers, and ensuring that each session runs smoothly. This is done for your benefit and to positively impact your PhD journey.

The seminar is compulsory, which means that you are required to attend. We will be noting attendance this term, therefore if you are unable to attend a session due to illness, travel, or an obligatory commitment, please e-mail us in advance of the session (

We look forward to seeing you Thursday (2nd of August; 10h00-12h00) as well as during the remainder of the year. This week, we will recommence the seminar with a welcoming and 'update' session. Students and staff members who attended a conference will report back and share some of their experiences and we will present the provisional seminar outline for the remaining year.

Date:  Thursday 2nd August 2018

Time:  10h00 - 12h00

Venue: Crim Seminar Room
